What Occurs When XMP Is Enabled?

RAM operates at established speeds set by the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council (JEDEC), but it is possible to manually overclock RAM. To save a speed and timing profile that the RAM can safely operate, XMP utilizes some RAM storage. The memory is set to operate at the speed and timings for which it is rated when XMP is enabled.

Note: Your memory will operate at rates faster than what some CPUs are officially rated to allow if you enable XMP. This is known as overclocking. This shouldn’t have an impact on your motherboard or processor, but it is technically unclear in terms of your warranty.

How to Make Your Memory XMP Enabled

You can enable Extreme Memory Profiles by following these procedures if your computer is compatible with them.

1: Get into the BIOS/UEFI. The usual access keys are F2, Del, and F10, however yours might be different. For specifics, visit the manufacturer’s website or the manual that came with your motherboard.

2: Find the toggle for the XMP profile. Turn it On if you see it on your UEFI/BIOS home screen, then move on to Step 6. If not, move on to the following action.

Note: Certain motherboards don’t support XMP; if you try to use it, it will either be greyed out or you won’t be able to turn it on. There’s nothing you can do in this situation. To use XMP, your motherboard must be upgraded.

3: Turn on Advanced Mode in your UEFI/BIOS if required. Again, this depends on your motherboard, but it’s usually F7. That information is usually located in the lower-right corner.

4:Open your BIOS and navigate to the overclocking section. This could be referred to as Performance, Extreme Tweaker, Overclocking Settings, AI Tuner, or something similar.

5: Toggle the XMP profile by scrolling through the available options. You can turn it on by clicking it and choosing the option to turn it on from the drop-down menu, or you can press the enter key. Some motherboards require you to load the XMP Profile, such as the one below.

6: Quit after saving your BIOS settings. To do this, use your keyboard or mouse to choose the Exit option and choose to save your settings.

As an alternative, press the conventional F10 key. When asked, affirm the selection you made.

How Can I Know If XMP Is Activated?

Returning to your UEFI/BIOS and verifying that the toggle is turned on will allow you to confirm that your XMP profile is active. Check your RAM speed in the UEFI/BIOS as well; it can be found during the post-screen boot sequence on the home screen, under the overclocking menu, or both.

You may verify the speed of your memory by using Windows software such as CPUZ. Your XMP profile is enabled if the speed meets the rating indicated on the packaging and the tag on the memory kit.
